Excerpted from From Zero To Adam and Eve In
Fourteen Billion Years by Adam Kissiah.
From our species' earliest awareness of
"self existence" to the present day of
scientific and technological
advancement, we have wondered about our
beginning and questioned the nature of
the source from whence we came. Today
there is widespread discussion about the
universe's age, its origin, and its
expected life. There is also much
conjecture about how the universe and
humankind were "created" or how they
"evolved". From the time the New
American Standard (Christian) Bible (NASB)
and other religious texts were written,
many have believed that these documents
contained the unquestioned truth of all
beginnings, specifically as written, in
spite of the many diverse
interpretations by many different
readers; however, geological,
anthropological, paleo-anthropological,
and biological findings, leading to
writings such as such as Darwin's "The
Origin of Species", and others, have
opened other theoretical possibilities
in the minds of many. Through studies of
such concepts as heredity (genetics) and
the selective and reproductive role of
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), many
persons in the scientific community--and
likewise persons of many religious
faiths--have been convinced that only a
process of evolution can explain the
enormous accumulation of 20 Adam Kissiah
scientific observations, and the
extensive fossorial record in the
emergence of mankind. Others, however,
are still unconvinced and will not
accept any method other than short-term
creation. As time passes and the
evidence (and opinions) continues to
accumulate either in favor of a
short-term creationary or of a long-term
evolutionary process, it is hoped that
one of these descriptions of the
universe's--and humankind's--beginnings
will gain a dominant acceptability. The
most plausible version of the beginning
should be agreeable to and accepted by a
substantial majority of persons in both
scientific and religious circles.
Beliefs and ideas of the masses change
and fade away only by the passing of
generations, because individuals, with
their beliefs and opinions of what is
correct and what is not, will not easily
change their minds, either by their own
volition or by the persuasion of others.
New generations continue to arrive,
however, and many long-standing beliefs
and opinions are replaced by new persons
with new ideas. The diversity of our
backgrounds and beliefs and the
interpretation of our sources of
knowledge (or in many cases, the simple
lack of knowledge) cause these
differences of opinion to exist. These
diversities also permit new ideas to
survive. The following "suggested
scenarios" are not intended to claim
that "This is absolutely the way it was
whether you agree or not". Some
statements included herein are the
author's personal beliefs and
presumptions of fact. As such, they must
be taken in the context of personal or
religious belief and cannot be confirmed
by further research or proved to be
correct with scientific reasoning or
mathematical formulae. This book is the
result of an accumulation of much
factual scientific research, intermixed
with existing histories and beliefs. It
does not provide new discoveries of
geological, religious, or astronomical
events. It is intended to stimulate new
thought and perhaps help to gain
acceptance of a plausible description of
the universe's beginning and the
emergence of mankind. Creation Vs.
Evolution 21 Though there is
disagreement in the perceived pathway of
the emergence of life and mankind on
earth, there is widespread and ever
increasing agreement on how long it has
been since the beginning of time, or
time zero as defined in this book. It is
hoped that discussions herein will help
blend science and religious theories
from the beginning of time through the
evolution of human life on earth, and
hopefully to promote less basic conflict
between the concepts of "creation" and
"evolution".
